Our most commonly used site: Portland International Raceway (PIR)

Solo events are driving skill contests that emphasize the driver's ability and the car's handling characteristics. This is accomplished by driving a course that is designated by traffic cones on a low hazard location, such as a parking lot or inactive airstrip. In the Portland area, Oregon Region SCCA Solo utilizes a parking lot located at the Portland International Raceway (PIR). PIR is within the city limits of Portland, Oregon. Located just west of I-5, it is about 6 miles west of Portland International Airport, 2 miles south of Vancouver, Washington and about 3 miles north of downtown Portland.

Address:
Portland International Raceway, 1940 N. Victory Boulevard, Portland, Oregon 97217

Directions:
Take EXIT 306 B (Delta Park / PIR) off I-5 in North Portland. Follow signs to the PIR entrance which is on the west side of I-5.

Two parking areas within PIR are used for Solo competition: the North Paddock (aka the PIR Pro Pits) and the South Paddock (aka the Pit and Paddock). To determine the specific location for the event you are interested in attending, view the event flyer by clicking on the Schedule link to the far left.

Getting to the South Paddock (Pit and Paddock) area:
Drive through the main PIR gate and follow the paved road. The South Paddock is the first large parking area to your right - - just look for the cones! Follow the road around past the competition site and park anywhere in the large grassy area. You will need to locate the Registration table to sign the liability waiver and receive waiver verification (wristband) which must be worn at all times while on the premises.

Getting to the North Paddock (PIR Pro Pits) area:
Before you enter the PIR main gate, you will notice a SOLO sign up area on the right. Stop here to sign the liability waiver and receive waiver verification (wristband) which must be worn at all times while on the premises. Drive through the main gate, show your wristband to the security guard, then follow the paved road past the main event parking area and the large grassy area until you arrive at a gate which opens onto the racetrack between the spectator stands. The gate attendant will allow you to proceed across the racetrack into the Solo competition area when it is safe to do so. Crossings are only allowed between road race sessions (about once every thirty minutes to an hour).
