Surrounded by his loving family, Samuel Egli Jr peacefully departed on February 12, 2009.

Sam was born on January 26, 1925, in Oregon City.  He graduated from Benson High School and attended the University of Portland.  Sam enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the Pacific aboard the Mt Baker during World War II.

In 1947, He married Barbara Franzke and enjoyed a loving marriage for 62 years. They raised four daughters and cared for seven grandchildren, three great-granddaughters, and many other family members.

In addition to work and family, Sam had a passion for cars.  He was a long-standing member of the Porsche Club and was active in the Sports Car Club of American racing program.  He raced his vintage 1965 356C Porsche in many competitions including the Rose Cup and Portland Historic Races.

Sam will be missed by all of us.
