OREGON REGION SCCA BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING MINUTES
APPROVED: DATE: 4/4/17 PLACE: Raccoon Lodge Restaurant PRESENT: BOARD MEMBERS: Todd Harris, Kristen Moore, Tim Ferrick, Tim Scott, Randy Thieme OFFICIALS: Karen McCoy. Mary Thompson MEMBERS: None ABSENT: Jim Weidenbaum, Carrie Sutherland, Mark Tabor, Aaron Bucci Jeff Zurschmeide, Dan Bullis, CALL TO ORDER: Todd called the meeting to order at 6:10 MEMBER/NEW BUSINESS COMMENTS: None REGIONAL OFFICE: Karen talked about the Radical Sports Racers being built by Dave Cormier in Canada. These will be a good fit for our open wheel group Group 2. The hope is that they will join us after April. She attended The Volunteer Training PIR and passed out SCCA membership form and signed up 14 new members. Karen requested approval to send the deposit to the hotel to secure the site for our annual banquet scheduled for November. Region Financial information was given to Todd and Kristen. TREASURER: Absent LOUD PEDAL: Absent Kristen suggested that everyone take a good look at the new web site to see if you feel that all of the content you would like is there. Advise your thoughts as to changes that might make it more user friendly or interesting. DIRECTORS REPORTS: ROAD RACE: Kristen advised that we have 48 entries as of today for the April event. Thursday will be a test day with a school and so far there are 6 students registered. Club Trials (where you run against the clock) will be held in April-June and August. Hopefully between these along with TNiA and track days, we will gain a few new drivers. SOLO II: Absent RALLY: Absent VINTAGE: Tim advised that the out of area drivers coming for The Rose Cup, that had hoped to leave their cars in order to run the Vintage SVRA event, will need to make other arrangements as they cannot leave the at PIR. DIRECTOR I: Randy asked the question, why do we weigh each car after a race? He thinks it is a great time to be social but wonders just why this is done. Todd thought that this was a very valid question and was surprised that it had not been raised before. He said that not all regions do weigh after a race. Maybe we should address this and perhaps weigh only the first five and a couple of others random! He felt that it would be worth discussion to feel out the need. More to come on this later. DIRECTOR II: Absent. PAST REGIONAL EXEC: Absent ASST: REGIONAL EXE: Tim talked about the upcoming TNiA event and the changes that Ntl SCCA has made in regards to instructors. He plans to bring his car and offer rides to try to drum up interest in some of the TNiA folks to look into club racing. Discussion followed as to the costs involved with putting these TNiA events on. While Ntl SCCA gives us a small stipend, it does not cover the entire cost of each night. We secure emergency services- pay for the use of the land line and also provide some food for the volunteer workers. We may find that it is not cost effective to do this program next year. So far we have not gained any new interested drivers from our investment. We will look at this later to make a decision. REGIONAL EXEC: Todd advised that there are ongoing meetings planning for this year’s Rose Cup. Things are shaping up nicely and it should be a great event. He has been traveling to many areas of the country to race. Everywhere he goes he sees and hears the same issues that we here in Oregon, low entries, higher costs and not an influx of new bodies. At The Majors in CA there were 140 entries with SRF having the highest counts and Spec Miata very light. Obviously it is a trend and hopefully it will reverse for all of us. He talked up our events and he said many CA drivers indicated that they were coming to our Majors. Cal Club has a race that same weekend so he is hoping that it will not impact ours. ADJOURN M/S (Kristen/Tim S.) M/P Respectfully submitted Mary Thompson

OREGON REGION SCCA BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING MINUTES
APPROVED: DATE: 3/7/17 PLACE: Raccoon Lodge Restaurant PRESENT: BOARD MEMBERS: Todd Harris, Kristen Moore, Dan Bullis Tim Scott OFFICIALS: Karen McCoy. Mary Thompson, Jeff Zurschmeide MEMBERS: Doug Berger, Bob Smethers ABSENT: Jim Weidenbaum, Carrie Sutherland, Tim Ferrick, Mark Tabor Aaron Bucci, Randy Thieme CALL TO ORDER: Todd called the meeting to order at 6:05 MEMBER/NEW BUSINESS COMMENTS: Bob advised the need for licensing and service that is needed for our track vehicles, specifically E1 & E2. There will be more T&S loops going into the track. Not sure where at his time. There will be a Chiefs Meeting on March 18th at Mars Meadows. Bob will no longer be able to secure the dinners for TNiA workers as his new job does not give him the flexibility to do so as in the past. A suggestion was made to give the workers $10 cash. This will be given to them when they sign in with registration in The Rose Cup Room prior to the start. REGIONAL OFFICE: Karen spoke about the new web site that is up and running. On behalf of the region she suggested that Rally & Solo should contribute to its cost. Dan responded to this in agreement but would like their page to not contain any advertising. Jeff agreed to that and suggested that if either group had any advertising specific to their specialty they could display that. It was agreed that Rally 7 Solo would contribute $20 to the web site costs. Tire Rack Teen Street Survival is scheduled for March 12th. There are 40 signed up and 20 on the waiting list. This is always a well-attended event. Thanks to our SCCA Drivers who volunteer as instructors. Karen also advised that the proposed Southern Oregon Chapter will not be happening at this time. TREASURER: Absent LOUD PEDAL: Jeff advised that we have been on line live for 1 month. Statistics show that we are seeing 100 unique visits per day. He was grateful to Don Smethers who worked with him on the linkage for this. Jeff suggested that we send our nomination to Ntl SCCA to have Monte Shelton put on the slate for inclusion to the SCCA Hall of Fame. Well-deserved honor. DIRECTORS REPORTS: ROAD RACE: Kristen advised that the new easy-up for Tech has been ordered. Heavy duty model with sides and shipping for $345. She will be attending The PIR Users Meeting and will report next month on any information pertaining to set up times, camping, etc. that would concern our drivers or workers in 2017. SOLO II: Dan relayed the info on The Tire Rack Starting Line event scheduled for March 18th at PIR. Solo will be setting up the cones for the Teen Street Survival event. RALLY: Absent VINTAGE: Tim has talked with some drivers from CA who plan on running the Rose Cup event and then leaving their cars here for the SVRA event. DIRECTOR I: Absent DIRECTOR II: Absent PAST REGIONAL EXEC: Absent (SCCA Ntl Mtg) ASST: REGIONAL EXE: Absent (out of town business mtg) REGIONAL EXEC: Todd talked about The Super Tour Race and relayed that FCC will bring 10 and run on Fri & Saturday only. They will run their own group and not enter other run groups this year. He will get with Kristen & Karen to review the schedule and may duplicate 2016’s as it seemed to work well. The drivers are getting younger every day! SCCA now licensing 14 year olds to compete. Let’s all work together to make 2017 a great year for OR Region SCCA!!
