Road Racing drivers, volunteers, and guests,
We look forward to seeing you all for the opening race weekend on March 27, 28, 2021. Volunteers and Drivers: if you have not registered, please do so now. SCCA - Oregon Region | MotorsportReg.com Thank you for your support. We are very much looking forward to getting back to the track and seeing you all! The weekend schedule is posted on our website: www.oregonscca.com Let us take a moment to recognize and remember those we have lost this year. We are saddened by the loss of too many that have been such an important part of our club for so many years. Please join us on Sunday at 12:25 PM for two laps behind the pace car. Any car is welcome, all ages, no helmets required, passengers allowed. A shout out goes to the Spec Miata group for putting together a new regional class, Spec Miata Toyo (SMT). While Spec Miata (SM) class will continue to use the Hoosier tire, the SMT class offers drivers the option to use a tire that lasts 4-5 times longer. What a great way to keep the cost down and generate interest in the class! Oregon Region is excited to announce the start of a Time Trials program. Our first event is Friday, April 2, 2021. Race against the clock in a non-wheel-to-wheel competition. Check it out. Time Trials - OREGON REGION SPORTS CAR CLUB OF AMERICA (oregonscca.com) In an effort to support Oregon Region Time Trials, Road Racing events will not be offering Track Events in 2021. SCCA National added a new rule for Super Tour events. This rule requires forward-facing cameras on all cars. Please see detailed rule below. While Oregon Region is not currently requiring cameras on board, it is highly recommended. 9.3.11. CAMERA & CAMERA MOUNTS (effective 01 March 2021) A. All cars competing at Super Tour events and the SCCA Runoffs must have a forward-facing camera that is recording, at all times, while on track and provides a clear horizontal field of view of the cars and track ahead. The cameras may be mounted either inside the car, or on the body. If video is needed as part of an investigation of an incident, a competitor’s video may be requested by race officials regardless of whether or not said competitor was involved in the incident. Failure to provide such video may result in penalties. Forward-facing cameras are recommended at all other SCCA-sanctioned events. B. The mounts for video / photographic cameras shall be of a safe and secure design. The body of the camera or recording unit that weighs more than 8 oz shall be secured at a minimum of 2 points on different sides of the camera body. Suction cups or elastic mounts are not permitted. If a tether is used to restrain the camera, the tether length shall be limited so that the camera cannot contact the driver. If you have any questions or requests, please do not hesitate to contact me at prodrive@prodrive.net. Kristen Moore Road Racing Director Oregon Region SCCA
